Grade Promotion and Retention Policy

At F.V.I.S, promotion from one grade to another is based on academic achievement and merit. The school follows the following promotion and retention policy: Lower Primary School Students will be promoted automatically from one grade to another at the end of each academic year. No students will be retained in the lower school. Upper Primary School As mentioned before Students with more than 15 absences might not be eligible for the promotion; their case will be studied on an individual basis by the concerned head of school.

Grade 1 & 2:

Students will be promoted automatically from one grade to another at the end of each academic year. However if a student achieves an average less than 12/20 on any core subject (Math, Science and Arabic, ) then he/she will be placed on an academic probation.

Grade 3:

If the overall average is:

Above 12/20, then the students will be promoted to grade 4.

between 11/20 and 12/20, then a make- up exam will be assigned for core subject failed.

Below 11/20, then the student is required to repeat the grade.

Upper School (Middle and Senior) As mentioned before:

Student in the middle school with more than 10 absences might not be eligible for promotion; their case will be studied on an individual basis by the concerned head of school,

Students with more than 8 absences per subject might not be eligible for promotion; their case will be studied on an individual basis by the concerned head of school.

Grade 4 - 9

If the overall average is:

Above 12/20 then the students will be promoted to the next level.

Between 11/20 and 12/20, then a make-up exam will be assigned for core subject failed.

Below 11/20, then the student is required to repeat the grade.
